Judges comments

Amelia's portfolio of stories on police and safety issues was impressive for its quality, impact and style. It included examples of just about the full suite of professional skills - exclusive news breaking, spot news reporting, patient investigation, data analysis and colour writing. On Amelia's current trajectory, this is a journalist with a wonderful future..

As well as the Young Journalist of the Year Award, Amelia Harris won the RACV Transport Quill (with Stephen Drill) and Best Use of the Digital or Online Medium Quill Award (with Anne Wright) at the 2011 Quill Awards.
