Jordy Atkinson of Port Phillip Leader won the 2018 Suburban Journalism Quill for 'Bringing the House Down'.

Judges' citation

Jordy's piece was well written on an issue close to the hearts of locals, that centred around the safety concerns of residents in St Kilda. Her reporting took an unflinching look at a difficult and uncomfortable topic. She demonstrated patience, tenacity and the ability to engage a broad network of contacts. Her legwork was evident, having gained the trust of countless sources. Importantly her reporting helped deliver results for this community. She was clearly on the case of this story long before it made mainstream media headlines.
