Guidelines, criteria and applications

The Melbourne Press Club is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2020-21 Michael Gordon Journalism Fellowships program.

The Gordon Fellowships is a national program to enable social justice journalism. It is named in honour of Michael Gordon, the respected former Age political editor who passed away in February 2018.

The fellowships provide annual grants to a total of $30,000 to fund reporting projects in areas including Indigenous affairs, migration policy, human rights and international development.

The program is open to all journalists, photographers and videographers working with mainstream Australian news organisations across all media, as well as freelance journalists and accomplished journalism students.

We encourage applications from journalists who identify as being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage as well as journalists from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Applications for this round are open until COB Wednesday 30 September 2020.

The Michael Gordon Journalism Fellowships are supported by The Copyright Agency Cultural Fund, with further support from the National Press Club, Nine Entertainment and Robyn Carter.

We would be grateful if you would display the flyer in your newsroom and pass details of the program on to colleagues and staff.
